Alicia's Disability Reflection

For our second presentation, we had to make a brochure, poster, and power point explaining all the different types of disabilities and some disorders that there are. I can honestly say that I never knew this much about all the disabilities that existed. This project informed me so much and it really opened my eyes towards this subject. I enjoyed researching about vision and hearing disabilities and learning how to help people that go through this and try to understand them. Not a lot of people are informed about the different disabilities that there are so in a way I’m grateful I had the opportunity to teach my classmates and they also teach me. The first group that presented had to teach us about mobility and physical impairments, spinal cord disabilities, and head injuries-brain disabilities. One thing that really surprised me that they mentioned was how most spinal cord disabilities occur because of car accidents. I found that to be super scary because we all drive and it can happ...

Hello! Welcome back to part two of my project reflection. Unlike last time, where I stated how easily our group worked together, we struggled a bit more with the disability project. This is not because the topic was difficult but because the amount of information needed to cover was very large. We had a difficult time splitting up the work in an effective way that would make sense and look organized when presenting. Then we each chose a side, either vision or hearing, there was no discussion or argument when selecting (everyone just chose a side, and it wo...

This project was the most difficult to prepare in my opinion, because there was a lot of research and work put into it. But it was also one of the best projects/works for this class. I got to a lot more about disabilities and some that i personally have. I would like to have the links to where they found the information so that i could read about it. I'm an open book i don't really mind speaking about my issues. I got myopia, glaucoma, hypothyroidism, ADD, anxiety, depression and i have anorexic behaviors.      Well moving on! Group 1's presentation was beautiful and they had lots of information and topics to talk about their disability, and i felt like i learned more. I wish i could see their powerpoint once again so i could reread it and to maybe find links so that i can look at the articles they used. This project for sure brought all of us together because it was a more serious topic and we all had to do our research and make sure we don't say something ...
