Davier's Disability Reflection
This was our second project and it was about people with different disabilities. It was a really interesting topic to talk about and to find information. Our job was to do a presentation to explain how different disabilities affect the daily life of these people. The disability that my group was working on was hearing and visual disabilities. This project was a little different from the first one because on the first one we just did a PowerPoint. For this one, we not only made a PowerPoint, but also a poster, a brochure, and we interviewed two people, one with hearing disability and another one with a visual disability. We also had to research on the different perspectives the world has versus the United States on disabilities. Also, we did some research on the history behind these disabilities. We listed some of the organizations that are involved to help these people.
I was assigned to work together with Daniela and Rolando on finding information for the poster. I was also working with Yunislek, Daniela, and Hannah on the PowerPoint for hearing disabilities. In the presentation, I talked about the congenital and acquired causes for hearing impairment. Also, I talked about the different ways that people with hearing impairment communicate. I decided to talk about this because it is involved in the medical field and that is something that I am good at. I think in general the three groups made an awesome presentation. Everyone was very clear and precise with what they were saying and the way they were saying it made it easy for the rest of the class to understand. The posters and brochures were absolutely beautiful and meaningful. I hope that the last project that is as interesting as this one especially because it is about the current situation that we are living on with the coronavirus and the protests. I am a little bit sad because there only three days of class left, and we could not see each other due to the situation of the virus. I hope we can solve this problem quickly and we can come back to face to face classes.
I enjoyed this class a lot even though it was only for six weeks. I wish this class was a little longer to work on more projects and do a lot of presentations. What I enjoy the most in this class was working in groups and meeting new people. Our class leaders were amazing during these six weeks, always there for us when we had questions. They always made sure that we submitted our work on time and the right way. Our professor too, Sherri has been one of the kindest professors I have ever had, I will be always thankful for taking this class with her and learn a lot in this short amount of time. My group was amazing too, I also have to thank all of them for being kind and supportive, I am really going to miss them.
Great blog and presentation. I certainly will miss this class so much!!!
