Welcome back! This reflection is based on our second speech, which centered around the theme of disabilities. As Sherri explained this speech's main idea and topics, my group excitedly hoped to get visual and hearing disabilities. Ideas of posters and brochures began forming and Yuni, our group leader, had already begun thinking of people she could get interviews with. Lucky for us, Sherri split the disabilities for each group, and we got the exact ones we hoped for!

After we got assigned our chapters and disabilities, the confusion started to settle in. We had all gotten used to the format of our first speech and now that we had more components such as posters, brochures, and study guides, we were all kind of...lost. However, this is the perfect reason to have a group leader. Even though she was probably just as lost as the rest, Yuni begun splitting up the work for this speech. We were split into a visual group and a hearing group. We all hurried to type in the chat which group we wanted to be a part of and I believe everyone was satisfied with the work they were assigned.
Additionally, we also divided the work based on the handouts and study guide. Davier, Rolando, and I decided to work on the poster together. Eliana, Scarleth, and Cynthia created a beautiful brochure and Yuni,Hannah, and Alicia made the study guide off our chapters. By now we felt less stressed due to the improved organization.
If you can't tell by the minion that has probably been moving on your screen for a couple minutes now, I am a huge fan of visuals. I believe everything is easier to understand when you can see and hear it. This is why I was fascinated when learning more about visual disabilities through my classmates work. Hearing and sight are some of the most important senses, and it is incredible that people manage these disabilities so well.
Apart from visual and hearing disabilities we also learned about physical impairments, spinal cord disabilities, and head injuries from group 1. Manuela had Corrine interviewed which I thought was an excellent idea, since they got to involve her in their presentation. I am honestly proud of that group's progress, this time they seemed more unified and had all worked on the same powerpoint instead of individual ones. They also improved the organization of the order in which they spoke. Group 3 was also very good, they had chosen the same powerpoint theme as us, which obviously just meant they had good style ;).I felt as though they could have gone more in depth with their information but generally their delivery was wonderful and they taught us about learning disabilities, psychological disorders, and invisible disabilities.
Overall, I feel that all groups have improved greatly. Although, I have not physically met my classmates or my professor, I feel that I have grown to know them, especially our group. I am extremely thankful for all the knowledge I've gained throughout this course and it saddens me that our class is reaching its end.
I agree...I am sad also. Excellent blog! Also excellent presentation.
